My name is Marker R. Nicholas Sr.,
In 1995 I established the Old Southern Bulldog name through A.R.F. (American Research Foundation). I was also given credit for preserving this breed from extinction. You can google "Old Southern Bulldog Breed History". I have bred and train dogs for over 30 years. In 1993 I was the first person Ms. Lane let into her breeding program. In 1994, I began to contract my services to Ms. Lane, as a shipper, evaluator of the breed social skills, and all stabilization work on all her puppies. I would like to mention at that time I wasl also purchasing dogs from North Florida and South Georgia. The dogs that I purchased were the Old Southern bulldogs and White English bulldogs. All of my dogs are documented and registered with A.R.F. In 1995, I brought (3) different strains of bulldogs into the Alapaha Blueblood breeding program. The dogs I brought into Ms. Lane's breeding program did not have any catahoula in their bloodline. Also, in 1995, I began to help Ms. Lane re-establish her breeding progam by sharing my knowledge or genetic pool, trait and mutation in a breed. At this time, I had over (50) bulldogs in my breeding progam. These dogs consist of White English, Old Southern and the Alapaha Blueblood. During these years, I was conducting my study and research on the different breeds, based on their character, trait, mutation and genetic pool. I was also, evaluating the different disposition that these bulldogs displayed when crossed. These studies continued over (5) five years. After my studies and research were completed I began to establish my breeding stock. My breeding program is based on 1/2 White English, 1/4 Alapaha Blueblood & 1/4 Old Southern bulldog; another strain consist of 3/4 White English, and 1/4 Old Southern; another strain is 1/2 Old Southern and 1/2 Alapaha Blueblood. Please understand there is some White English in the Old Southern bulldogs and the Alapaha Blueblood bulldogs. Closing: I would like to express that the Alapaha Blueblood bulldog breed was based upon the characteristic of the White English bulldog breed. To all Breeders that are breeding for exotic colors and the bully look of this breed: If the genetic pool is not the majority White English, your breeding program of this of bulldogs will be short lived.
